Services

Sisters & Sensory is proud and excited to announce that we are now offering the following services as part of our mission to provide parents, teachers, and professionals with the knowledge, tools and skills to continue supporting their little ones growing brains and bodies!

Kids Playing on the Couch

Amy will now be offering in-home pediatric occupational therapy (OT) services in the state of Florida (local to Starkey Ranch and surrounding area in Pasco County). A child/family's home provides a unique environment to enhance development and skill acquisition while also allowing us to provide parents with home programming ideas using the "stuff" and equipment they already have! In addition, a child's home is their safe space, where they feel comfortable revealing their most vulnerable selves (why we see all the fun 'behaviors' typically at home). Through a therapist's therapeutic use of self, play, parent education, and therapeutic activities (supported by research) we strive to create and build a home environment where your child and family thrives!

Our in-home OT services can address (but are not limited to):

  • Sensory processing/integration

  • Gross motor development

  • Fine motor development & refinement

  • Bilateral coordination & Praxis skills

  • Self/emotional regulation

  • Social skills

  • Reflex integration

  • Executive function skills

  • And so so so much more!

S&S In-home occupational therapy services will be private pay (cash-based); meaning we will not be billing insurance or any third party payers on your child's behalf. Why you ask? Let's look at some of the rich benefits of cash-based services.

Benefits of cash-based services:

  • Can intervene earlier (i.e. when red flags begin to appear) vs. waiting to reach a level of significant delay for insurance to deem treatment necessary.

  • More 1:1 time with your therapist to truly understand your child's strengths, challenges, and how you can support their development and learning!

  • No limits on areas we can address. Oftentimes third party payers place limits on the "areas" of need; because all of our body systems and brain processing is interconnected, when one thing is off.. others often are too.

  • You often save money in the long run - when we can actually address the underlying concerns and skill deficits your child's time they need skilled intervention tends to be less. In addition, many of us have high deductible and/or out-of-pocket max insurance plans that will require private pay up to meeting those thresholds.

  • Most importantly... It empowers you to be & remain the expert of your child!

Direct In-Home Occupational Therapy

Amy will also be offering sensory screens in both Florida and Minnesota. A screen allows for us to look at and discuss parental concerns related to their child's development specifically sensory processing, self-regulation skills, and possible milestone delays impacting daily function and skill development. The sensory screen is an in-direct (i.e. completed via online intake forms and standardized sensory questionnaires) service, and a great way to see if a more in depth and clinical occupational therapy evaluation might be warranted.

Sensory Screens will include:

  • Medical and developmental history forms

  • Standardized sensory questionnaire (completed by parent/teacher online) for both home and school (when applicable) environments

  • Scoring and interpretation of results

  • Written summary of results and clinical recommendations

  • 30-minute phone call to discuss results and recommendations with parents/guardians
